TMJ Dysfunction
Your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is located just in front of your ear and allows the lower jaw to move when eating or speaking. In between the bones of the joint is a small piece of cartilage which acts as a buffer between the bones. There can be multiple causes, all of which can cause headaches and/or pain either within the joint or in the muscles around the jaws.
Face by Townsville Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (TSVOMS) specialises in therapeutic injectables. The TMJ clinic can provide a full range of therapy options for TMJ patients including arthrocentesis, medications, muscle relaxants, referrals for bite splints and in some cases surgery. The team works closely with physiotherapists to achieve the best outcomes for patients.
